Moose Jaw Lake Engagement: Tips For a Great Session

Engagement sessions are so much fun. There is a lot of moving and a lot of cuddling- no chaos or crunch time that comes with your wedding day. And most importantly, getting to hang out with your couple for an hour or two is a great opportunity to get to know you a little better leading up to your big day.  After all, you want to make sure you are comfortable with your photographer when it comes to the day of, which is why they are included with all of my wedding packages.

Here are some tips for a great session:

1: Relax and Trust Your Photographer: (Easier said than done, I know.)  It can be nerve-wracking and awkward getting in front of the camera, but remember I do not expect you to be a professional model.  I am there to capture real moments, so all I want from you is to allow me into your space. Remember how you interact when no one is watching and embrace those moments.  I will guide you through the entire shoot, but mostly I just want you to be you and the beautiful couple that you are.

2. Forget the “Photo Shoot”:  I’m there to take more than a pretty picture.  We are documenting this special time in your life and your love. So while I may be snapping my camera away the entire time, you are there to have fun and enjoy an evening together.  Embrace the spontaneous and the imperfection – the wind messing up your hair and the goofy moments in between.

3. Location Choice: Pick an environment that reflects you- not just the location, but how you fit into it. The setting, location, light and weather will drastically affect your mood and the mood of the images.  I want to make sure the photos reflect you and you are surrounded by what you love whether it is in your own home or a prairie field.
